Raining
21st January 2001 - November 2011
We were young,
We had confidence,
In a world,
Still full of innocence…..
When did those days end,
Those nights when we would sleep as one contentedly
And those sweet dreams that we shared,
Would mend the hardest heart and make it feel like new.
All my life, I’d been searching for.
Don’t know what, there must be something more.
Then you entered my life, and swept me off my feet
On to this pedestal.
And I know that you were proud.
How we stood out from the crowd…
But it was raining on our Wedding Day
Those rain clouds still do not seem
far away….
When I was cold,
You wouldn’t let me in,
When I was tired,
I found no peace within,
So we drank the house dry
And held each other while we cried
For all those wasted years.
Doesn’t matter which one lied,
We soon become someone
Who we don’t recognise.
Take my hand,
Let us walk awhile,
Find some place new,
And raise a smile or two,
If we made the wrong choice
Does it mean we lost our chance
for one last dance,
When there’s nowhere left to turn
And no bridges left to burn
Well, it was raining on our wedding day,
And do those rain clouds still follow me today?

Under blood red skies
Where hammered clouds collide
I walk the silent empty streets
Looking for a sign
Lonely footsteps echo
From the concrete
And the glass
I’m a prisoner
Locked in my past.
Long I’ve walked on feet that once were fast
So many miles behind
I daren’t look back
My eyes that once were sharp
Now cannot see so far
Haven’t caught a single glimpse of you………….
Last night I watched the light
From a thousand suns
Shining down on streets
Now dead and gone
And I can still recall a time
When we knew how to dream
Made believe our lives
Would stay the same…..
